Abstract

Globalization has resulted in the call for greater diversity and multiculturalism in higher education. In order to achieve its stated goal of preparing students for “responsible global citizenship,” one master’s university1 has adopted an infusion model of internationalization. This study examines how the university’s Chinese Cultural Exchange Program (CCEP) contributed to those campus efforts to enhance multicultural or global awareness, specifically in regards to faculty and student exchanges.

Author Biographies

Liangmei Bao, State University of New York, Oneonta

Liangmei Bao is currently a counselor for the Education Opportunity Program at State University of New York College at Oneonta. She recently completed her doctorate in Education Leadership at Drake University, where she still works as a Chinese language examiner. Ms. Bao is the former assistant director of the Drake University Chinese Cultural Exchange Program.

Mark Seven Ferrara, State University of New York, Oneonta

Mark S. Ferrara is an assistant professor of English at the State University of New York College at Oneonta. He is the former director of the Chinese Cultural Exchange Program at Drake University and has taught in South Korea, China, and on a Fulbright Scholarship in Turkey.
